June 2020

Dear Parents,

Summer is finally here and we are very happy to still be here!  Hard to imagine before “The Spring of Covid 19 “ the wind was the biggest challenge for folks in Flagstaff!

We can all hope with the Summer comes calming winds, peaceful days, healthy families, and a vaccine!!

Again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, understanding, and gratitude during a time of such uncertainty.

Our Summer Exploration Series:

We are dedicated to create a summer for everyone to appreciate the challenges we have all faced this spring, the beauty of our community and the importance of friends, family and human connections.

This summer we will be enjoying the outdoors (even more than usual)!  The benefits of fresh air, sunshine, wide open learning spaces, and walking field trips will make every day a special event!

This will allow our program to provide support to Flagstaff families, while continuing to navigate the uncertainty still facing the way we live life.  We will get through this with support, respect, and commitment to our students and the love of learning.  See summer brochure for details.

Other News

Sunscreen:

Please remember to apply sunscreen on your child everyday.  We will be spending more time outside in the summer. Waterproof, sweat proof, long lasting, 45+SPF like” Water Babies by Coppertone” is a recommended brand. Thank you!

The Rules are Always the Same:

If your child has trouble leaving school the teachers can assist you. It’s important that your child follows our school rules even when “Mom and Dad” are here.  Thanks!

Children’s Shoes:

Sandals with straps are great, as are sneakers.  Both are appropriate and reinforce the gross motor skills that your child needs to develop.  Flip Flops do none of this and are not very safe on the playground when combined with running, jumping, and age appropriate movement that children ages 2-6 like to participate in at school.  So, please save the flip flops for relaxing at home and week-ends. If your children question why teachers and staff are permitted to wear flip flops here at Foresight it is because as adults we have developed our gross motor skills and we don’t have as much running and jumping to do outside...

Staff:

We wanted to let everyone know that we are in the process of hiring a new afternoon assistant and a new Late Day teacher.  It saddens us that Kendra will not be returning due to family obligations associated with Covid, but we support her decision and wish only the best for her and her family.    Also, the new hire did not work out as planned (many of you might not even remember her).  So, we will be searching for permanent replacements, however we are very pleased to have Gina Terry (student teacher this past semester) taking over late day before she moves to Phoenix for her new teaching position!!

Fall Enrollment:

Yeah!! August 1st will be the start of our fall classes for the year 2020-2021.  Many enrolled families attend year-round (June & July) which does not require you to do anything. Please know we will do our very best to accommodate all our current students’ schedules-whether your child has continued to attend or remained home. Please refer to our registration policies for schedule priorities, and feel free to talk to Beth or Kori if you have any questions or special requests. Please fill out a withdrawal form if you know your child’s last day.

Thank You so much!!!!!

**Yeah!! To our amazing “ESSENTIAL” teachers and staff who have given so much to keep Foresight a safe, healthy, familiar place for everyone!

Welcome to our new families!!

Have a Happy Month!

Beth, Kori, Cynthia, Sheri, Jini, Stephanie, and Sarah
