April 2019

 Dear Parents

This month our theme is “Our World”.  We will focus on how we can make a better cleaner Earth.  We will do this by learning how to recycle, reduce, and reuse.  It will also be important to explore the concept of resource conservation: air, water, land, trees, and animals.  We will discover various environments and eco-systems of the Earth, including the rain forest, Arizona’s National Forest, and the Earth’s various water systems.  Hopefully, we as teachers and parents can work together to teach our children to appreciate and care for our planet so the future will provide a safe, healthy, and clean environment for us all.

We will also be exploring the world of long ago-DINOSAURS!

If you have not already done so, please return your intent to continue form for Summer and Fall 2019.  We will have open enrollment for new students April 5th, so it is important for us to know if your child will be here for our “Summer Exploration Series”.   If your child will not be attending this summer you need to fill out a withdraw notice by May 1st to give your 30 days notice and ensure that your deposit will be applied to your last month of tuition.

Our summer session covers June & July.  We will also pro-rate August for anyone who will be starting at FUSD only if space is available.   Our Fall session begins on Thursday, August 1st, 2019.

Arriving at school:

Please sign-in at time of arrival, and then escort your child outside. Staying inside is not a choice at this time.  Teachers are preparing for the day and are not able to supervise students while preparing for the day’s activities. They are available to talk to parents with questions, concerns, and comments, but do not have time to visit with each individual child.  If your conversation will be extensive please schedule to meet with your child’s teacher at a time that works for everyone. Thank you!

Also, if you need to drop your child off earlier than scheduled please call ahead, most classes are at maximum enrollment. Early arrival is considered drop-in and fees will apply. Thank you!

Late Pick-up Fees:

Please be sure to pick-up your child at your scheduled time.  There is a $10.00 late fee for every 10 min. you are late with a 5 min. grace time. “Late” refers to any time after your child’s scheduled pick-up time (11:30, 12:30, 3:30, 4:30 or 5:30 depending on schedule).

What to Wear to School:

Please send your child to school with appropriate jacket, hat, etc. for the ever changing spring weather of Flagstaff. We go outside everyday and want each student to be comfortable and enjoy outside activity. Also, children need sturdy play shoes that allow them to develop gross motor skills. Please, no flip flops. And don’t forget to label all belongings….

Thank You Very Much!

·        Thank you to all of the parents who filled out our NAEYC Family Survey.  We will let everyone know of the outcome once it is all tallied!

Peace and Love,

Beth, Kori, Cynthia, Jini, Sheri, Stephanie, Kendra, and Mercedes
